Cancer Prevention Committee  

The AACR Cancer Prevention Committee helps to coordinate the long-term prevention agenda of the AACR. The Committee is charged with strengthening existing AACR programs, publications, and other efforts related to cancer prevention research.  The group considers new ways to engage cancer prevention researchers from all sub-specialties.  The Committee also serves to help develop initiatives to promote global cancer prevention, increase national awareness, and educate the lay public about cancer prevention.

Clinical and Translational Cancer Research Committee  

The Clinical and Translational Cancer Research Committee (CTCRC) identifies the most important scientific priorities, issues, and opportunities concerning clinical and translational cancer research that have the potential to enhance patient care and survival and to accelerate progress across all cancer research. The CTCRC also works to optimize AACR’s impact on the current and future state of clinical and translational cancer research worldwide.

Education and Training Committee 

The AACR Education and Training Committee assists in maintaining and improving the quality of AACR programming focused on the education and training of investigators at all career levels. The committee identifies the needs of various constituents across the competitive landscapes in education and recommends focused, educational and training-based opportunities to the AACR Board of Directors. The Committee also evaluates proposals submitted for consideration in the AACR Educational Workshop Series, identifies appropriate cancer researchers to organize each workshop, and helps to identify potential funding sources to support AACR’s education and training programs.

Science Policy and Government Affairs Committee 

The Science Policy and Government Affairs Committee is AACR’s principal means for devising and implementing strategies to influence important biomedical research-related public policy issues. The committee analyzes public issues of concern to cancer researchers and focuses on mechanisms for strengthening funding for cancer research. Its members periodically visit legislators in Washington to make the case for increased funding for all forms of biomedical research, periodically submit testimony to Congress, the National Cancer Advisory Board and other governmental agencies, and help shape special sessions to educate Members of Congress and their staff about important issues affecting cancer research.

Special Conferences Committee 

The Special Conferences Committee is responsible for planning the AACR’s highly acclaimed special conferences series. Its members determine which topics are most timely and merit coverage in a special conference forum. It also evaluates conference proposals submitted for consideration in the series and identifies appropriate cancer researchers to organize each conference.
