Connection. Awareness. Levity. Mindfulness: A Day of Wellness with the AACR
C.A.L.M., A Day of Wellness with the AACR, took place on Thursday, February 4, 2021, in conjunction with World Cancer Day. This virtual event offered a total of five yoga and meditation sessions that were suitable for all skill levels, such as flow yoga, restorative yoga, and mindfulness meditation classes.
Michael Lynn Sills, Assistant Director of Special Events at the AACR says, “It’s no secret that the last several months have been mentally exhausting as the world continues to try and navigate the twists and turns of this pandemic. With that, we wanted to create an event that would resonate with how people were feeling, giving them a way to release some of the stress that we’re all facing.”
The event was a huge virtual success, attracting 268 total participants and raising more than $2,100. “We are hopeful that, with the guidance of the instructors, participants were able to shift their focus inward, even for just a few minutes, and see the value and importance of Connection, Awareness, Levity, and Mindfulness.”
