Charles E. Wenner, PhD, an AACR member for 59 years, died January 8, 2014, at the age of 89. He was research professor emeritus at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, in Buffalo, New York, and past chair of the institute’s cellular and molecular biology laboratory. His research focused on the processes involved in cell signaling networks in order to identify ways to use these pathways in cancer therapies.
Born May 2, 1936, in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, Wenner received his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from Temple University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He joined the faculty at Roswell Park in 1956 and continued to volunteer there even after his retirement in 1998.
Wenner joined the AACR in 1955 and had served as an associate editor of Cancer Research.
