Message from the Chair
It is an honor to serve as Chair of the Women in Cancer Research (WICR) Council for the 2021-2022 term. Despite the challenges we have seen during the pandemic, I am proud to say women in science are still making strides and progressing in the field of cancer research. I want to thank Dr. Margaret Foti and the staff at AACR for continuing to keep the importance of research in the forefront.
Meet Members of the WICR Council
The WICR Council is the advisory body to the AACR leadership on issues of concern to women investigators and is also responsible for spearheading the initiatives and organizing activities of WICR through its committees. Meet the amazing women leading these efforts. Congratulations are also extended to Past Chair of the WICR Council, Dr. Marcia R. Cruz-Correa for being selected to serve as the Program Committee Chair of the AACR Annual Meeting 2022. Lastly, we are pleased to introduce newly elected council members, Drs. Nada Jabado, Andrea Hayes-Jordan, and Shiva Malek.
AACR Research Funding
Applications are currently being accepted for Career Development Awards, Grants, and Fellowships in various areas including a new grant for mid-career female investigators.
Scholar Awards Exclusively for WICR Members and Other Opportunities
Applications are now being accepted for Women in Cancer Research (WICR) Scholar Awards for participation in the AACR Annual Meeting 2022 in New Orleans, LA. All eligible WICR members are encouraged to apply for this award!
Be Sure to Attend the AACR Annual Meeting 2022
The AACR Annual Meeting 2022 will take place in New Orleans, LA, April 8-13, 2022. The AACR Annual Meeting is the focal point of the cancer research community, where scientists, clinicians, other healthcare professionals, survivors and advocates gather to share the latest advances in cancer science and medicine. Submit an abstract, apply for a Scholar award, join us for WICR activities.
WICR Member Spotlight
The WICR Member Spotlight focuses attention on the recent awards, promotions, degree completions, and appointments of AACR-Women in Cancer Research members. The mission of WICR is to achieve full participation of women in cancer research by recognizing their scientific achievements and fostering their career development and advancement in cancer research through all stages of their careers. Sending your accolades to us for the WICR Member Spotlight will increase the visibility and recognition of the outstanding contributions female scientists are regularly making to the field of cancer research.
