Individuals may apply for as many awards for which they qualify but may receive a maximum of one award for this meeting. The number of awards and amount of each award provided will be based on available funding. Applicants will be notified of their award status approximately five weeks after the application deadline.
Scholar-in-Training Awards
Scholar-in-Training Award applications are no longer being accepted for this conference. The Scholar-in-Training award application deadline was Tuesday, June 7, 2022. All award applicants will be contacted by email at the address provided with their abstract submission or on their application approximately five weeks after the application deadline. Individuals selected for an award will receive a formal notice of their award, including the award amount, and instructions to certify eligibility. Individuals who are not selected for an award and, therefore, cannot attend the conference, may request a full refund of the conference registration fee by contacting the AACR Meetings Department at [email protected].
AACR-Minority Scholar Awards in Cancer Research
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is extremely pleased to announce the availability of scholar awards in cancer research for full-time eligible minority scientists wishing to participate in AACR Annual Meetings and Special Conferences.
Purpose
The purposes of this award program are to increase the scientific knowledge base of minority scientists and to encourage them to pursue careers in cancer research.
Eligibility
- Candidates must be full-time graduate students, medical students, residents, or clinical or postdoctoral fellows.
- Only minority groups that have been defined by the National Cancer Institute as being traditionally underrepresented in cancer and biomedical research are eligible for this award: African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Alaskan Native, Native American and Native Pacific Islander.
- Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada.
- Candidates must be the presenters of meritorious abstracts at the AACR Annual Meeting or special conference.
AACR-Minority and minority-serving institution faculty Scholar in cancer research Awards
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is extremely pleased to announce the availability of scholar awards in cancer research for full-time minority faculty and faculty members of minority-serving institutions (Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-serving Institutions, and other minority institutions as defined by the US Department of Education).
Purpose
The purposes of this award program are to increase the scientific knowledge base of minority faculty members and faculty members at minority-serving institutions, and to encourage them and their students to pursue careers in cancer research.
Eligibility
Candidates must meet at least one of the below criteria:
- Underrepresented minority faculty (as defined by the NCI include African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Native Pacific Islander/Hawaiian, and Alaska Native)
- Faculty member of a Minority-Serving Institution (Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-serving Institutions, and other minority institutions as defined by the US Department of Education)
Additionally, all eligible candidates must:
- be at the level of assistant professor or above and engaged in meritorious basic, clinical or translational cancer research
- have completed doctoral studies or clinical fellowships and hold full-time faculty status at an institution designated as a minority-serving institution or be a full-time underrepresented minority faculty member at another institution.
- have acquired doctoral degrees in fields relevant to cancer research.
- be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada.
- be the presenters of meritorious abstracts at the upcoming AACR Annual Meeting or special conference.
