Abstract 1039. TrkA and JAK2-STAT3 pathway crosstalk promote breast cancer stem cells in HER2-enriched and triple-negative breast cancers.
What are your long-term career objectives?
My long-term career goal is to establish an independent research program as a principal investigator at a research-intensive academic institution. I aim to become an independent academic researcher who investigates signaling mechanisms underlying therapeutic resistance of breast cancer brain metastases within a research-intensive institution, with the ultimate goal of developing new therapies for women with metastatic breast cancer.
Please share information about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted your research over the last two years.
COVID-19 has certainly impacted the research milestones I had set for my postdoctoral training. My first paper (Cancers, 2021) was set to be submitted in the summer of 2020. Unfortunately, mandated lockdowns and social distancing forced me and my group to postpone our final experiments until our return to the laboratory in the summer of 2020. Additionally, due to the global shipping delays as a result of COVID, many of our reagents, and therefore the experiments in which they were to be used, were also delayed. Fortunately, I was able to publish this manuscript in the spring of 2021. A second manuscript is scheduled to be submitted in the coming months.
