Collaborations
Realizing the AACR’s bold mission of preventing and curing all cancers requires the support of the entire cancer community—including nonprofit organizations, foundations, and cancer survivors and their families and friends. The AACR Foundation fosters a culture of philanthropy within that community that funds a broad range of AACR programs and initiatives.
The AACR is a trusted partner to philanthropic organizations looking to maximize the impact of their investments in cancer science. If you are interested in partnering with the AACR as a nonprofit partner or foundation, please contact Morgan Robinson via email or at (215) 446-7184.
Here is a sampling of partners in pursuit of our mission:
Debbie’s Dream Foundation
The AACR-Debbie’s Dream Foundation Career Development Award for Gastric Cancer Research represents a joint effort to encourage and support junior faculty to conduct gastric cancer research and to establish a successful career path in this field.
This partnership also provides Innovation and Discovery grants which support basic, translational, and/or clinical research experiments that examine important and druggable novel targets and/or biomarkers that are relevant for gastric cancer.
Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC), also known as lobular breast cancer, is the second most common histological subtype of breast cancer. ILC is the sixth most diagnosed cancer of women in the United States, and there is a critical need to advance understanding of this disease and improve treatment and follow-up care options for the patients living with ILC.
The AACR-Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Research Fellowship is a joint effort to support and encourage innovative research projects with direct applicability and relevance to ILC and to help establish a successful career path in the field. Furthermore, the selection of this peer-reviewed grant includes patient advocate perspectives.
Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research
Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research supports the AACR Annual Meeting through Scholar-in-Training Awards. AACR Scholar-in-Training Awards have assured that young researchers have the opportunity to present their work before the international research community and participate fully in the Annual Meeting.
These travel grants offset a significant portion of the cost of attending the Annual Meeting. Award stipends vary in amount, depending on the home location and travel requirements of each awardee (local, regional, national, or international), and travel grants are awarded to investigators in countries where opportunities for scientific advancement are limited.
St. Baldrick’s Foundation
The AACR and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation established this Scientific Achievement Award in 2019 to bring attention to major research discoveries to the pediatric cancer research community and to honor an individual in any sector who has significantly contributed to any area of pediatric cancer research, resulting in the fundamental improvement of the understanding and/or treatment of pediatric cancer. As part of this unique Award, the recipient is asked to select an emerging leader in the field of pediatric cancer to receive a $75,000 research grant.
QuadW
The AACR-QuadW Foundation Sarcoma Research Fellowship in memory of Willie Tichenor represents a joint effort to encourage and support a postdoctoral or clinical research fellow to conduct translational or clinical sarcoma research and to establish a successful career path in this field. The AACR’s partnership with QuadW reflects the commitment of both organizations to make a difference in the lives of sarcoma patients by supporting the next generation of cancer researchers who are focused on sarcoma research.
