Dr. Trevino is a tenured faculty Associate Professor of Surgery, Chair of the Division of Surgical Oncology, Director of the Pancreas Program & Surgeon-in-Chief of the Massey Cancer Center (MCC) Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). His published record demonstrates significant accomplishments and academic success in cancer research, with a focus on innovative therapies for pancreatic cancer, cancer health equity, and cancer-associated cachexia (which has significant impacts on cancer survivorship). Dr. Trevino brings expertise in program development and administration and has a proven ability to build multidisciplinary team of physicians, investigators, and staff to achieve common goals in cancer therapeutics and clinical care. This approach has led to high-impact peer-reviewed publications and successful grant applications as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigator on several funded NIH and Foundation grant applications. Dr. Trevino is a strong advocate for health equity in cancer and, in alignment with this work, leads a proposed U54 allianced with the NCI/NIH PDXNet, which will further research into the contributors of significant cancer health disparities.
