AACR Chief Philanthropic Officer Mitch Stoller to Receive 2024 Change Our Future Game Changer Award
Stoller will be recognized tonight at the 4th annual Sneaker Ball, hosted by former Eagle Rodney McLeod Jr. and Erika McLeod in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA – The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) congratulates Mitch Stoller, AACR Chief Philanthropic Officer and Vice President of Development, on receiving the 2024 Game Changer Award for Health and Wellness from Change Our Future. Founded by former Philadelphia Eagles safety and Super Bowl champion Rodney McLeod Jr. and his wife Erika McLeod, Change Our Future is a youth development organization that seeks to remove barriers and labels placed on underserved communities by empowering young people through education, advocacy, and awareness.
The Change Our Future Game Changer Award recognizes professionals whose innovation, accomplishments, and impact have “changed the game” and removed barriers in their communities. Recipients of this award have displayed leadership, resilience, and passion in alignment with Change Our Future’s four pillars of success: Health and Wellness, Education, Community Impact, and Youth Development.
As head of the Philadelphia-based AACR Foundation since 2013, Stoller has been instrumental in supporting and furthering AACR’s mission to prevent and cure all forms of cancer through research, education, communication, collaboration, science policy, advocacy, and grant giving for cancer research. Donations to AACR through the AACR Foundation advance research-driven progress against cancer, both through AACR’s many programs and initiatives as well as through direct grants to researchers. Since 1993, the AACR has given more than $540 million in grants to fund researchers at every stage of their careers—from early-career trainees to independent researchers. Before joining the AACR, Stoller served in leadership roles at the LIVESTRONG Foundation and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. He was responsible for the LIVESTRONG yellow wristband campaign, which has raised over $100 million to date.
“I am honored to receive this prestigious award from this great foundation,” said Stoller. “My colleagues and I at AACR look forward to continuing our work with Rodney, Erika, and Change Our Future to support students and early-career scientists who represent the future of cancer research so that we can make more progress against all forms of cancer.”
Stoller is one of five leaders being honored this year with a Game Changer Award for their undeniable impact on their communities. They will be recognized tonight at the 4th annual Change Our Future Sneaker Ball in Philadelphia.
As longtime AACR supporters, the McLeods and Change Our Future have committed to funding numerous AACR programs and initiatives to develop the next generation of cancer researchers, including the AACR Special Program for High School Students, held each year at both the AACR Annual Meeting and the AACR Conference on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities, and the AACR Minority Scholar in Cancer Research Travel Awards, which provide support for early-career cancer researchers to attend the AACR Annual Meeting.
