AACR Experts Forecast Cancer Research and Treatment Advances for 2025
PHILADELPHIA – Cancer Research Catalyst, the official blog of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), started the new year with a post titled “Experts Forecast Cancer Research and Treatment Advances in 2025.”
In the post, five eminent AACR experts share their thoughts on potential developments in cancer research in the coming year:
- AACR President-Elect Lillian L. Siu, MD, FAACR, BMO Chair in Precision Cancer Genomics at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, provided insight into what’s next for precision medicine;
- Vinod P. Balachandran, MD, director of The Olayan Center for Cancer Vaccines at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, shared his thoughts on future advances in immunotherapy;
- John E. Dick, PhD, FAACR, senior scientist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, spoke about progress in understanding, diagnosing, and treating hematologic malignancies;
- Regina Barzilay, PhD, health artificial intelligence (AI) faculty lead of the Jameel Clinic at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, discussed what to expect from AI in cancer research; and
- Scarlett Lin Gomez, PhD, MPH, coleader of the Cancer Control Program at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared her thoughts on upcoming advances and opportunities in addressing cancer disparities and prevention.
