AACR Annual Meeting 2022: Important Details and Deadlines for Members of the Media
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will host its 113th Annual Meeting April 8-13, 2022, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Media interested in covering the meeting may still register for in-person or virtual attendance. See below for important details about media registration and the AACR Annual Meeting press program, as well as meeting policies, procedures, and COVID-19 guidelines.
ONSITE SAFETY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
The AACR is committed to providing a safe and productive Annual Meeting for all attendees. COVID-19 vaccination is required, and a number of other on-site safety policies and procedures have been implemented in accordance with CDC guidelines:
- COVID-19 rapid antigen testing and rapid PCR testing will be available daily at the convention center
- KN95 masks will be provided to all attendees
- The convention center will follow social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols

Submitting Proof of Vaccination
The AACR is defining “fully vaccinated” as individuals who have received the last required dose of a CDC or WHO approved vaccine no later than Friday, March 25.
All attendees are required to submit proof of vaccination through CrowdPass. Badges cannot be picked up without verifying vaccination status. Attendees are strongly encouraged to complete the verification process by Wednesday, April 6, to avoid delays when onsite. RSVP TODAY: MEDIA LUNCHEON
The AACR will host a special luncheon for registered media onsite at the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 12, at noon CT. During the event, AACR President David A. Tuveson, MD, PhD, FAACR, and AACR President-Elect Lisa M. Coussens, PhD, FAACR,will give remarks and answer questions from reporters.

MEDIA REGISTRATION
Please note: The deadline to make hotel reservations through AACR Housing is Wednesday, March 30. Hotel information can be found in the Travel and Accommodations section on the Annual Meeting’s website.
Registration for the Annual Meeting is complimentary for credentialed news media. Journalists may register to attend the meeting in person in New Orleans or virtually. Both in-person and virtual registrants will have access to livestreamed sessions, the e-poster platform, and more. Journalists planning to cover the meeting must register through the AACR Communications and Public Relations Department to receive the embargoed press program and other important communications.

Embargo Policy
Individuals registered as press for the AACR Annual Meeting agree to abide by all embargoes. Please review the AACR’s embargo policy.
PRESS OPERATIONS AT THE AACR ANNUAL MEETING 2022
A press kit containing embargoed abstracts and press releases will be distributed to registered media about a week before the meeting.
Press Conferences
Three press conferences will be held in rooms 252-254 at the convention center and broadcast through Zoom webinar for virtual attendees. Press conferences will be held at the following times:
- Sunday, April 10: 11 a.m. CT
- Monday, April 11: 8:30 a.m. CT
- Tuesday, April 12: 8:30 a.m. CT
All media registered for the meeting will automatically be registered for the virtual broadcast of the press conferences. The AACR public relations team will follow up with additional information on how to access the briefings virtually.
Press rOOM
The press room will be located in rooms 255-257 at the convention center. Hours of operation are as follows:
- Friday, April 8: 12 to 6 p.m. CT
- Saturday, April 9-Tuesday, April 12: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT
- Wednesday, April 13: 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. CT
