Brain Cancer Survivor to Run TCS New York City Marathon in Support of Cancer Research
Aaron Roche has raised nearly $8,000 for the American Association for Cancer Research, an Official Charity Partner of this year’s race
WHAT:
Aaron Roche will be running the TCS New York City Marathon with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Runners for Research team to raise money for cancer research. Aaron is a brain cancer survivor and available for interviews regarding his participation in the marathon.
WHEN:
Aaron is available for interviews November 3 and 4, 2023. The TCS New York City Marathon will take place November 5, 2023.
WHO:
Aaron started running competitively in high school and continued through college. In his final year at Drexel University, he was diagnosed with pineal germinoma – a rare type of brain cancer. He was hospitalized for 8 days and had to undergo a number of procedures to relieve the swelling in his brain.
Despite these challenges, Aaron was eager to get back to running and continued to do so through his treatment and eventual recovery. Today, he lives in Seattle with his fiancée, Anna, where he competes with the Seattle Running Club and coaches high school cross country and track and field.
On November 5, Aaron and Anna are running the TCS New York City Marathon with the AACR Runners for Research team to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, with a goal of raising at least $10,000. So far, they have raised nearly $8,000.
The AACR is the world’s first and largest professional organization dedicated to advancing cancer research and its mission to prevent and cure cancer. The AACR has raised significant funds for lifesaving cancer research through AACR Runners for Research, which brings together a diverse group of survivors, advocates, researchers, and those wishing to honor or memorialize a loved one.
