Party with a Purpose Gala Honors Former Mayor Michael Nutter and Jefferson Cancer Researchers Dr. Andrew Chapman and Dr. Kuang-Yi Wen

The annual fundraising event will support the Philadelphia-based American Association for Cancer Research and geriatric oncology research

WHAT

On Sunday, October 27, the Friends of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Foundation will host the 21st annual Party with a Purpose gala in Philadelphia to raise lifesaving funds for cancer research. This year’s event, which is dedicated to geriatric oncology research, has raised more than $333,000.

WHO

The gala will honor the following individuals:

  • Michael A. Nutter, former mayor of Philadelphia, will receive the Humanitarian Award for both prostate cancer advocacy work and years of dedication to bettering the city and its communities.
  • Andrew E. Chapman, DO, will receive the Scientific Achievement Award. Chapman is the director of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health.
  • Kuang-Yi Wen, PhD, will receive the Early Career Investigator Award. Wen is an associate professor and behavioral scientist within the Division of Population Science in the Department of Medical Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University.
