Running in Support of Cancer Research
On October 31, thousands of runners will take to the streets of Philadelphia to participate in the American Association for Cancer Research Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia 1/2 Marathon. Among the crowd will be members of the AACR Runners for Research team, running and volunteering while raising awareness and funds for cancer research.
Teri Griege, an AACR Rock ‘n’ Roll Ambassador, was diagnosed in 2009 with stage 4 colorectal cancer two weeks after completing an Ironman triathlon. She has continued to participate in endurance athletics since her diagnosis. In this video, Teri explains the role of athletics in her cancer journey and the importance of AACR Runners for Research.

“Research is key,” Teri says, “so if those runners go out there and they’re raising money for, not only awareness, but for the research to find a cure—or if not a cure, to help us live longer and better and more productive lives—I’m all for it.”
