As a cultural oncologist, my research is grounded in intersectionality and focused on cancer diagnosis and treatment. I focus on the body from a cultural perspective, maintaining particular attention to how sex, race, gender expression, and sexuality inscribe cultural meanings on our bodies. My positioning as an American Indian (Choctaw), lesbian, and gender-nonconforming woman gives me particular insights into this. My career objective is to secure a faculty position where I can continue my research focus on breast cancer health disparities, and also teach undergraduate and graduate students.
