As a cancer health and disparities researcher-advocate, I seek to identify multi-level (e.g., individual, interpersonal, institutional) barriers to continuous cancer care coordination for rural and racial and ethnic minoritized groups. My research program centers on three key areas: 1) examining urban-rural differences in cancer disease risk, 2) identifying community-level determinants associated with rural access to care, and 3) identifying individual-level determinants that improve cancer survivorship care coordination. In brief, my long-term career goal is to become an independent rural cancer disparities researcher integrating academic, clinical, and community partners to implement and disseminate interventions that improve community-to-clinic care coordination for rural residents across geographically and socioeconomically diverse rural regions.
