AACR Annual Meeting 2024: News and Highlights
The AACR Annual Meeting is the critical driver of progress against cancer, the place where scientists, clinicians, other health care professionals, survivors, patients, and advocates gather to share and discuss the latest breakthroughs. The 2024 edition of the most important cancer meeting in the world featured the following highlights:
- More than 23,200 registrants (including more than 22,000 in-person registrants) from 78 countries and territories participated in the meeting
- More than 240 clinical trials were presented; this largest-ever clinical program featured 24 Phase III trials, including several practice-changing studies
- A diverse program featuring nearly 730 invited speakers from 20 countries, including 10 NextGen Stars selected for podium presentations through a competitive application process
- More than 200 reporters covered the meeting, generating nearly 6,000 media clips to date in high-profile outlets such as The Associated Press, CNN, ABC News, FOX News, STAT, Reuters, HealthDay, and The Hill
- More than 6,750 people joined the Annual Meeting conversation on Twitter, sharing more than 28,000 tweets using the #AACR24 hashtag and generating a record number of 571 million impressions
- Nearly 275 scientific sessions were live-streamed (including plenaries, major symposia, advances sessions, education sessions, methods workshops, and proffered paper sessions)
A Wrap-Up Plenary Session summarized the cutting-edge basic, translational, clinical, and population science presented at the meeting.
Four Clinical Trials Plenary Sessions showcased promising new approaches for a wide range of cancers.
Special sessions offered first disclosures of the structure and mechanism of 12 novel cancer agents that are moving into phase I clinical trials.
Topics included early cancer biology and interception, profiling tumor microenvironments, the underpinnings of metastasis, and AI in oncology.
