Treatment Leads to Remission for Ewing Sarcoma
High School Student diagnosed with rare cancer shares story to raise awareness.
In September 2022, I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer known as Ewing sarcoma.
I had to complete 14 rounds of chemotherapy and six weeks of proton radiation. Being a high school student with cancer was extremely challenging.
Luckily, my scans came back clear in April 2023, and I’m now in remission. I wanted to share my story to bring awareness to this disease. Fewer than 1,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma each year, making it an extremely rare disease.
I have met so many amazing people my age that were diagnosed with this disease. I truly hope one day we can have less toxic treatments and the word “cancer” won’t be so scary.
Whether you are a patient, survivor, caregiver, or loved one touched by cancer, your story can have an enormous impact. You can provide hope and inspiration to someone recently diagnosed with cancer or a patient undergoing therapy.
