The AACR is honored to recognize these outstanding members for their dedication to the association and to the field of cancer. Charles A. Coltman
Charles A. Coltman Jr., MD, a cofounder of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) and a longtime member of the AACR, died November 28, 2018, at age 88.
Giulio J. D’Angio
Giulio J. D'Angio, MD, an Emeritus member of the AACR, died September 14, 2018, at the age of 96. Dr. D'Angio was a radiation oncologist and a pioneer in the treatment of children's cancers.
Muthiah D. Daniel
Muthiah D. Daniel, DVM, PhD, an Emeritus member of the AACR, died July 24, 2018, at the age of 91.
Robert W. Day
Robert W. Day, MD, PhD, an Emeritus member of the AACR, died January 6, 2018, at the age of , an Emeritus member of the AACR, died Oct. 2, 2018, at the age of 87.
Vittorio Defendi
Vittorio Defendi, MD, AACR Emeritus member, died February 12, 2018, at the age of 89. Defendi was a professor emeritus at New York University Langone Medical Center.
Nikolay V. Dimitrov
Nikolay V. Dimitrov, MD, an Emeritus member of the AACR, died November 10, 2018, at the age of 93. Dr. Dimitrov was a Professor Emeritus at Michigan State University.
Thomas J. Dougherty
Thomas J. Dougherty, PhD, an Emeritus member of the AACR, died June 14, 2018, at the age of 84. Dr. Dougherty was the developer of modern photodynamic therapy and Chief Emeritus of Roswell Park’s Photodynamic Therapy Center.
Gilbert H. Friedell
Gilbert H. Friedell, MD, AACR Emeritus member, died February 28, 2018, at the age of 91. Friedell was the Director Emeritus at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.
Adi F. Gazdar
Adi F. Gazdar, MBBS, an Active member of the AACR, died December 29, 2018, at the age of 81.
Ladislav J. Hanka
Ladislav J. Hanka, PhD, an Emeritus member of the AACR, died on March 26, 2018, at the age of 97. Dr. Hanka gained recognition for his contributions to assaying methodologies used in isolating promising strains of microbes and especially soil fungi.
