José Baselga, MD, PhD, AACR Past President, Fellow of the AACR Academy, and a major force in the development of molecular targeted agents in precision cancer medicine, died March 21, 2021, at the age of 61.

Joseph R. Bertino, MD, a Past President of the AACR and a Fellow of the AACR Academy whose research on drug resistance led to lifesaving new treatments for leukemia and lymphoma, died October 11, 2021, at the age of 91.

John Mac Cassady, PhD, a longtime member of the AACR, died September 29, 2021, at the age of 83.

Martin A. “Mac” Cheever, MD, an internationally recognized pioneer in immunotherapy, died September 23, 2021, at the age of 77.

Emil J Freireich, MD, DSc, FAACR, a Fellow of the AACR Academy who developed a landmark treatment for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia, died February 1, 2021 at the age of 93.

Melvin Greenblatt, MD, a longtime member of the AACR, died September 22, 2021, at the age of 91.

Daniel P. Griswold Jr., DVM, a longtime member of the AACR, died February 9, 2021, at the age of 92.

David M. Livingston, MD, FAACR, an internationally recognized expert on the role of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes in breast and ovarian cancer, died Oct. 17, 2021, at the age of 80.

Pierre Massion, MD, an internationally recognized expert on early detection of lung cancer, died April 4, 2021, at the age of 58.

J. Gordon McVie, MD, DSc, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, an innovative leader of several international cancer organizations, died January 20, 2021, at the age of 76.
