Jeffrey W. Pollard
Jeffrey W. Pollard, PhD, a member of the AACR whose work contributed to improved understanding of the biology of breast cancer, died May 1, 2023, at the age of 73.
Franklyn G. Prendergast
Franklyn G. Prendergast, MD, PhD, emeritus professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science who was the first Black director of an NCI-designated cancer center, and a longtime member of the AACR, died October 12, 2023, at the age of 78.
Susan M. Samson, MPH
Ms. Susan M. Samson, MPH, passed away January 25, 2023, at the age of 78.
Peter G. Scholefield
Peter G. Scholefield, DSc, PhD, a longtime biochemistry professor and cancer researcher in Canada and a member of the AACR since 1964, died September 1, 2023, at the age of 98.
Bonnie F. Sloane
Bonnie F. Sloane, PhD, former chair of the Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine Department of Pharmacology and a longtime member of AACR, died December 24, 2023, at the age of 79. She held the rank of distinguished professor of pharmacology and was also a distinguished professor at the Barabara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit.
Michael R. Speicher
Michael R. Speicher, MD, a longtime AACR member who was professor and chairman of the Diagnostic and Research Institute of Human Genetics of the Medical University of Graz in Austria, died September 24, 2023, at the age of 62.
Cullen M. Taniguchi
Cullen M. Taniguchi, MD, PhD, a radiation oncologist at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, died November 15, 2023. He was 47 years old.
Wilko Weichert
Dr. Wilko Weichert, MD, AACR Active member, passed away July 10, 2023, at the age of 52.
Harald zur Hausen
Harald zur Hausen, MD, DSc, a Fellow of the AACR Academy and a Nobel Prize-winning virologist whose work led to the development of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, died May 29, 2023, at the age of 87.
