AACR member, Nora Navone, MD, PhD, professor of genitourinary medical oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, died December 15, 2023. She was 70 years old.
A native of Argentina, Navone received her medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Buenos Aires. She joined MD Anderson in 1989 to pursue postgraduate studies. After five years as a project investigator and research associate, she joined the faculty as an assistant professor of epigenetics and molecular carcinogenesis in 1994.
She transferred to genitourinary medical oncology in 1995 and joined the faculty of the MD Anderson UTHealth Houston Graduate School in 1996. Navone was promoted to associate professor in 2003 and full professor in 2015.
Navone was a member of AACR since 1990. Most recently, she served on the 2021-2022 AACR Basic Cancer Research Grants Scientific Review Committee.
