Cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) represent a significant disease burden in the United States and globally. Over 33,000 HPV-related cancers are diagnosed annually among men and women in the U.S. alone. Globally, 630,000 cases of HPV-related cancers are diagnosed each year.

Due to advances in vaccination, screening and treatment, the elimination of cervical cancer – and ultimately all HPV-related cancers – is within reach. However, this goal will require a strong commitment from governments, public health organizations, health care workers, parents and other stakeholders in the U.S. and around the world. During this important congressional briefing, speakers representing a diverse range of expertise in domestic and global health discussed current interventions against HPV-related cancers and what needs to be done to achieve elimination.
